Question:

What pain medication can you give a dog?

Posted by Judy-at-Shady-Grove on 10/02/2010
My aging big dog has increasing pain and stiffness and I know he is in pain.

Can I give him Motrin to help relieve the pain? I believe that Tylenol is a big NO for dogs. I have given him benadryl which has helped him calm down and become more relaxed.

Thanks!

1.First I give dogs glucosamine,

chondroitin,MSM for mild pain

associated with arthritis.

2.I also use fish oil capsules(1-3 daily) which when added to glucosamine help with the pain

3. Aspirin 1 pill per 30 ponds twice

daily helps with mild pain. I use it off and on for 4-5 days instead of every day.
5.Motrin is hard on the kidneys and bowels, instead there are doggy ibuprofens like Deramaxx and Rimadyl for moderate pain
