Question:

My cats love kitty grass so much. Why?

My cats love kitty grass so much but my friend's cat doesn't. Cats are carnivores so they shouldn't eat grass that much I guess. Does the grass help them reduce hair balls?

I have three cats and they all chew on grass almost every time they go outside. I read an article recently that studied why pets eat grass. Their conclusion? They're not sure...they just do.

To my knowledge, it does not help reduce hairballs. I did have one feline patient eat fake grass. It ate so much of it that we had to remove it surgically.

Don't worry, your cat is normal.

Thanks for letting me know. My cats don't eat grass like crazy fortunately but they crave it once a while. But sometimes the little one chews the plastic strips of the cat toy. I guess he's mistaken it for grass. Whenever I see it I stop him. So far so good.

Meanwhile I should go get some hairball treatment. But for now their food has the hairball control function.

My cat craves kitty grass too. I believe it's pretty common.
