Walking your dog allows it to enjoy an interesting life. If your dog lives alone, a good walk or romp in the dog park will let him or her see and smell new things to keep life interesting. Many neuroses or anxieties result from dogs left alone for long periods without any outside stimulation. Dogs that bark incessantly, dig, or destroy may need more to see or do in their lives. 

 

Dogs evolved from animals that have a well developed social structure and network. Take that away from our pets and some suffer. Not all dogs need the social contact and are fine with being alone and waiting for our company. Others suffer in silence or are not so silent.

 

When I go to the gym, it makes me feel better physically and emotionally. In fact I thrive on 1 hour a day of exercise. It calms my brain as it keeps me fit. I am sure good rigorous exercise does the same thing for them. Cesar Milan encourages walks with the “pack” so dogs will be able to enjoy both exercise and companionship simultaneously.  Dogs that are anxiety challenged can be helped by another pet, daily exercise, socialization on walks or at a dog park, or interaction by training or play. Walk or play with your dog for the health of it.
