You want a romantic getaway this Valentine's Day but feel guilty about leaving Fluffy and Rover at home.  Bring your pets with you to these romantic destinations and they can enjoy some pampering too.

Paris

It doesn't get much more romantic than that for you and your significant other.  The city of love is full of romance, from a trip to the Eiffel Tower to taking a stroll through one of the many gardens under the night sky.  And don't forgot the cozy, intimate restaurants and great cuisine.

Paris can be a great place to take your pets too.  Many restaurants and local boutiques allow you to bring your pets inside, so they don't have to stare at you with those sad eyes while tied up outside.  Small dogs can ride the bus and some taxi companies even specialize in transporting pets.  Dogs are only allowed in certain areas of parks around Paris, so be sure to check the signs to see if your pooch can play there.

For your weekend of pampering, try the Hotel Fouquet's Barrière (www.fouquets-barriere.com).  Of course it's luxurious for the human travelers, but they haven't forgotten your pets.  Each pet gets a special bed, bowls and dishes, mats embroidered with your pet's name, and gourmet meals available through room service.

New York City

New York City is also a great place for romance.  Think of great movies like An Affair to Remember or Sleepless in Seattle.  What could be more romantic than meeting your love on top of the Empire State building?  Take a stroll through the Botanical Gardens or a carriage ride around Central Park.

A great activity to try in NYC with your pet is Doga - yoga for dogs (www.dogadog.com).  At DogaDog, they teach yoga positions that you can do with your dog to encourage relaxation and improve flexibility.  They say that dogs can sense and smell our state of relaxation which causes them to feel relaxed themselves.

Try staying in the luxurious SoHo Grand Hotel while you're there (www.sohogrand.com).  You can bring your pet with you or they offer you a complimentary goldfish companion during your stay.  If you bring your pet, they'll provide a bed and treats, and there's a room service menu for your dog's meals.  And your pet can be in the public areas as well as the Grand Bar & Lounge with you.

Laguna Beach

What could be more romantic than taking a stroll at sunset with the one you love along the pristine beaches of the California coast?  Enjoy the views and take in the culture at the many art galleries.

Take your pooch down to the dog beach at Del Mar.  In the off season, dogs are allowed to roam off leash.  There's two miles of beach to explore with your significant other and your dog.  Plus for the humans there are volleyball nets and great surf spots.  So let Fido jump into the waves and roll around in the sand.

After your day of sun and sand, try staying at Casa Laguna (www.casalaguna.com).  Pets are more than welcome at this hotel.  Take advantage of the canine massages that they offer.  They offer professional massages for your pets to bring about relaxation, pain relief, stress relief and a show of your love.  But don't let Spot have all the fun.  They also offer simultaneous massages for you and your dog with treats for both of you.

 Jay Peak, Vermont

This is a great vacation spot for humans.  The skiing conditions are perfect for those skilled in skiing and snowboarding.  The natural snowfall of the area is 355 inches with 380 acres for skiing.  Jay Peak is unique because skiers have a lot of territory to explore and don't have to stick to the beaten path.

Dogs can have fun too in this quaint mountain town.  There's lots of hiking trails to explore for the adventurous dog.  There's also Trout River that dogs are allowed to swim in.  So let your pet run free and get a little wet!

For the perfect romantic getaway, try a stay at Phineas Swan Bed and Breakfast (www.phineasswann.com/index.php).  This hotel welcomes all varieties of pets, big and small, at no extra charge.  They offer dog beds, food bowls, dog towels, and dog sitting services.  They even have the "Pet Perfect Ski Package" that includes your room, breakfast for you and your pet, ski tickets, and dog walkers for while you're hitting the slopes.

Vero Beach, Florida

What could be better than taking a break from the cold weather this Valentine's Day and enjoying some sunshine?  Take a break from the hustle and bustle of your daily life and relax in this small beach town.

There are lots of great dog parks and dog friendly businesses in the area.  The Cravings Bakery and Cafe is a unique place to visit because they have ice cream treats just for your pet.

Rest your head for the weekend at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa (www.verobeachhotelandspa.com).  They have a special Valentine's Day package called "Pooch n' Smooch" that includes a picnic at the nearby dog park with a blanket, wine and dog treats.  You also get a turn down service with champagne and homemade dog treats.  And included in your reservation fee is a donation to help the local Humane society.  For human fun, don't forget to check out the beach cabanas and oceanfront heated pool.

Estes Park, Colorado

Embrace the snowy season this Valentine's Day and head to Colorado.  Snuggle up close by the fireside after a full day of skiing.  There's lots to do from rock climbing to skiing to fishing to shopping.

Your dogs can explore Colorado Hiking trails.  In Rocky Mountain National Park, be sure to keep your furry friends just around the campgrounds, but try Estes Valley Dog Park to let them run free in a fenced in, clean dog park.

Try staying at one of the luxurious cabins in Estes Park for a unique weekend getaway.  For Valentine's Day they have specials for three nights including flowers and chocolate.  Many cabins are pet friendly and included fenced in dog runs around the cabin.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Enjoy the spirit of Mardi Gras this Valentine's Day season and have a more exciting weekend trip.

A great place to bring your pet would be the New Orleans Levee.  It's a popular dog spot where dog's are allowed to roam and swim in the Mississippi River.  So take your pet to meet some new friends and explore the Mississippi River.

Put your feet up for the night at The Creole Gardens (www.creolegardens.com).  It's in a great location in New Orleans, close to the French Quarter and Tulane University.  There are no extra fees to bring your pet and in the morning you get to wake up to a full Southern hot breakfast.

Washington, DC

Use your time off of work this Valentine's Day to explore the history and culture of the nation's capital.

Take your dog for a walk on the National Mall.  Explore this long stretch of grass with your pet and check out the Museums that border it.

Spend your evenings at Hotel Palomar Arlington (www.hotelpalomar-arlington.com).  They have great packages for the romantic side of you and to keep your pet happy too.  The "Forget Love, I'd Rather Fall in Chocolate" package includes chocolate and champagne tasting and a guide to the best chocolate shops in town.  The "Applaud the Paws Pet Package" includes a comfy dog bed, treats, designer bowls, and a toy to keep.

Salt Lake City, Utah

Warm or cold, this city has breathtaking views and lots of outdoor activities.

Take your dog to Tanner Dog Park.  It has a gully he can run around in off leash and even a creek to dip his feet (or whole body) into.  It's removed from modern conveniences so you can enjoy nature and do a little hiking.

Treat yourself to a stay at Hotel Monaco (www.monaco-saltlakecity.com).  They have different floors for cats and dogs and also loan you a goldfish for your stay if you don't bring your own pet.  Their "Best Friends Package" is a room for two plus a pet, pet bed, leash, and list of local pet services.  And the humans can try an in room spa treatment so they don't have to spend too much time away from their pets.

Seattle, Washington

A great city to visit, check out Seattle for Valentine's Day.  Explore the area and check out the Space Needle and Seattle Aquarium.

Take your pup to the Magnuson Dog Park.  There are nine acres of land for your dog to run around and is the only dog park in Washington with beach access.

Stay at the Edgewater (www.edgewaterhotel.com) in  Seattle.  Their "Snuggle and Smooch - Seattle Romance" package comes with chocolate dipped strawberries, chocolate body frosting, and ylang ylang body lotion.  The "Tails from the Edge" package comes with a copy of Dog Magazine and includes a donation to the local animal shelter.  And of course it comes with some great dog treats!
