Do you celebrate your dog’s birthday? For more and more of us, the answer is yes. One of the many growing trends in the pet world is doggy birthday parties. At first this idea may seem far fetched, but after thinking about it, it is not such a bad idea. And for those pet parents who love to throw parties, it gives them a great excuse to have one.
A Birthday Party For My Dog? That is right. More and more dog owners are deciding to host a birthday party for their dog(s). Basically, it is just like having a birthday party for a child, but for dogs instead. You invite other dogs, have a cake, and you can even choose a theme for the party.
A doggie birthday party is a great way for you and your dog to socialize with peers and have a great time.
What You Will Need for a Doggie Bash There are many ways to celebrate a dog’s birthday from buying a cake to hosting an all out bash in the backyard or local dog park.
Guest List - After you decide to have a party, you will need to create a list of potential guests. Since this is a party for your pooch, try to invite other dogs in the area that you know your dog gets along with. A great place to find guests is at the dog park. You can meet many friendly dog owners there and it will be a perfect opportunity to see how your dog interacts with others.
Party Theme - The next task is to choose a theme. Try a Scooby Doo theme or a more traditional garden party theme.
Decorations and food - Once you have a theme for the party, it should be a little easier to decide how to decorate and what foods you should serve. For example, if you go with a Scooby Doo theme, you can decorate your yard with the Mystery Machine and other scenes from the cartoon. As for food, Scooby Snacks are a safe bet for the dogs. Make sure not to forget the cake! If you have invited humans to this party, including the dog parents and your family members, make sure to have a cake for them and one for the dogs. Try making your dog’s birthday cake. You can find many recipes online. Remember, have plenty of water out for the dogs and refreshments for the humans.
Activities - Create a list of activities to do during the party. It will give the party a direction and keep it interesting. Balls, and frisbees are a great place to start.
Remember Manners are always in style. Remember to thank your guests for coming with a thank you card a day or so after the party is over. Try this - take pictures of each guest with their human as they arrive. Send the printed picture with the Thank you card for a nice and simple gift.
